As mentioned earlier, the vitiated doshas move from the alimentary tract region (''koshtha'') to the periphery (''shakha'') i.e. ''raktadi dhatu'' and skin - due to several reasons such as excessive exercise, excessive heat, intake of unwholesome diet and regimen, and an excess pressure of fast-moving ''vata''. These vitiated ''doshas'' stay in the peripheral regions in a dormant state and do not cause any disease till the season or environment is conducive for them to act.
