Purificatory procedures like therapeutic purgation is advocated only in case of excessive aggravation of [[pitta dosha]].[Cha.Sa.[[Sutra Sthana]] 16/16] It is an important treatment for vitiation of [[rakta dhatu]], [[mamsa dhatu]], [[meda dhatu]] and [[shukra dhatu]].
