A polyherbal compound, rasayanaghana (made from Tribulus terrestris, Tinospora cordifolia and Emblica officinalis), was studied for antidepressant and anxiolytic activity in experimental animals. The formulation showed mild anxiolytic activity, moderate significant anti-depressant activity comparable to Imipramine (standard antidepressant) and a significant increase in anti-oxidant activity at cellular level. It also showed significant gastro protective activity against forced swimming stress induced gastric ulcers. Tinospora cordifolia have a daptogenic and anti oxidant properties along with stress attenuating activity.
