Application of gurvadi guna

Gurvadi guna & pathogenesis (vidhi samprapti)

समवेतानां पुनर्दोषाणामंशांशबलविकल्पो विकल्पोऽस्मिन्नर्थे| [Cha.Sa. Nidana Sthana 1/12]

Concept of vidhi samprapti has explained on basis of percentage (amshamsha kalpana) of individual guna involved in samprapti.

Ex: Pitta vitiation.

If ushna guna is more, it leads to burning sensation in chest (uro daha). Drava guna leads to sour eructation (amlodgara).

Gurvadi guna & kantatamo bheshaja (कान्ततमो भेषज):

Management principles (chikitsa siddhanta) based on opposite (viparita) principle expects an opposite of dravya/guna or karma to apply.

Ex: From soft Meda Dhatu, the Sthira & Ruksha Asthi Dhatu forms. It is because of Agni Mahabhuta & Vayu Mahabhuta works on adipose tissue (resemble to parthivamsha of meda). This brings kharatwa and leads to porosity. This provides activation to Vayu mahabhuta & Akasha Mahabhuta.[Cha. Sa. Chikitsa Sthana 15/30]
