By retovaha srotas the pathway through which the semen flows out shall be considered; which can be correlated to the seminal vesicles and ejaculatory duct. Retovaha srotas has been discussed separately to make it understand that is is different than shukrawaha srotas. As mentioned earlier shukravaha srotas comparises of medhra (the penis) and vrushana (the scrotum), which is referred for stationary semen; while retas is the word for virile semen, that is flowing semen. For achievement of conception, more emphasis is given on quantity and quality of sperm. Little work has been done on the change in the characteristics of semen. Although change in volume, viscosity, pH  effect the sperm motility and concentration and hence can lead to reduced fertility. The causative factors of change in characteristics of semen can be genital infections, trauma, malignancy, ejaculation problems, sex abuse and some medications.
