This chapter deals with one of the most important specialties of Ashtanga (eight branches) Ayurveda - the Rasayana Tantra. Rasayana essentially denotes medicinal nutrition, rejuvenation, longevity, immunity-enhancement, and geriatric health care. Rasayanas do not necessarily denote drugs, but could be used a term to denote medicinal food (in the form of rasayana food), or a positive, healthy lifestyle - or it may denote all the three. Rasayana remedies promote positive qualities of the cells and tissues of the body through improved nutrient effect, boosting digestion, metabolism, and/or augmenting microcirculation and tissue perfusion. | |||
